What is Personal Health Information (PHI)?
PHI stands for Personal Health Information.
Personal Health Information under HIPAA relates to any information related to a patient or client, that individually identifies the patient or client. I.e. "Mr. Smith has a broken arm" - Individually identifiable health information.
Sometimes you may want to hide Private Health Information (PHI) so that your client's most important data is secure. Therachat's "PHI Shown" button can toggle sensitive information on and off to ensure your clients' PHI is protected.
The "PHI Shown" button is located on your dashboard in the top right-hand corner.
Hiding Personal Health Information
Slide the "PHI Shown" button to the left to hide your client's PHI.
Showing Personal Health Information
Slide the "PHI Shown" button to the right to show your clients' names and photos.
What is hidden?
Toggling the PHI Shown button will hide the following information:
- Email address
- Phone number
- Will abbreviate the last name
- Date of birth
- Your client's photo
This information is hidden on your dashboard and in the "clients" menu.
Please note, that if you go to edit your client's details, all information will be visible on the screen.
Why would I use this?
If you are worried about the people around you being able to see information on your screen - using the PHI toggle is an excellent way to reduce the risk of PHI being displayed.
